Teaching Philosophy

As the old saying goes, “Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime”. I have always felt the desire to teach others to do things for themselves. My life has taken me in many directions, but all leading to a single place – that of an educator. My passion is to teach others and to bridge knowledge gaps where confusion may reside. My vast experiences professionally have allowed me the privilege of being able to communicate on different levels.

My philosophy on teaching is one of empowerment. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr once said that, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education”. As an educator in the corporate, nonprofit and higher education arenas, I want to leave the learners more empowered after I leave. This is how a legacy of learning will be carried out. This is my job as an educator, no matter the arena.
